Types of Sources

What is the difference between "Print and Internet" sources..?

PRINT sources:

  • go through an extensive publication process that includes editing and review
  • clearly identify an author
  • clearly identify quotes and outside sources of information
  • indicate whether they cater to special interests
  • include publication date, and publisher information

This does not always happen with INTERNET sources.

PRINT (originates in paper format; often available online, too) INTERNET ("born digital")
Reference – Encylopaedia Britannica; Encylopedia of Drug & Alchohol Addiction Websites – NIH.gov; drugabuse.org, Wikipedia; etc.
Magazine/Popular Periodical – Time; Newsweek; New York Times Video – YouTube, etc.
Academic/Scholarly Journal – Journal of Addiction; BioScience; New England Journal of Medicine Audio/Podcast – NPR, etc.
