Today I met with my Senior Project mentor for the first time. We decided that we'd meet every Tues during 3rd period to check my progress with Senior Project. We will meet in my mentor's classroom. Currently, I have a couple of topic ideas in mind. I'm interested in researching either marine life, or video games. I'm going to look around the the Info Center and the Amherst Town Library to see if they have any books on these topics. I'm also going to check out videos on YouTube, and Google my topics to see what kind of information I find. Once I look around a bit for resources, I'm going to use the 4W's (Where, When, What, Who) graphic organizer that is on the Senior Project LibGuide to try to focus both of these topics. I think if I explore these topics for a week or so, I'll be able to narrow my focus. I think the most challenging part of Senior Project will be to stay on task. I don't do a very good job of sticking to my own timelines, so I will need to ask my mentor for help with this. Also, I'm a bit shy, so I might struggle to find an Outside Expert. I'll have to start looking for an expert right away, so that I don't avoid meeting this requirement. The most exciting part of Senior Project will be investigating a topic that I enjoy. Once I choose a topic and start researching, I'm sure an Applied Piece with come to mind. But I'm not going to worry about that now. I'm just going to focus a topic, and start there!
